JoeWalsh_Remco-small.JPGOn Sunday June 4th 2006 The Eagles visited The Netherlands to give a a ‘fare well concert’ in Rotterdam Ahoy. Not many people know that the lead guitarist Joe Walsh is also a HAM radio amateur with the callsign WB6ACU.

Dick PA2DW, who had accidentally found out that Joe bought a Drake TR7 on Ebay a few months ago, contacted Joe and soon an appointment was made. We were accompanied by Rob, PE9PE.

Being Joe’s guest is something special, especially when you bear in mind that I also play the guitar and some covers from The Eagles. To shake hands with the guy who invented some classic riffs, licks and solos is something very special as well as seeing Joe play on stage after the 25 mins ‘meet and greet’. He gave us all the time and was very relaxed.

Joe likes to ‘rag chew’ CW on 40m with low power. Besides being a legendary guitar player, Joe is a good CW-operator too.
